What you’ll do.
At The Light Group USA, the installer is the person who turns a signed contract into a working clean energy system. Sales gets the homeowner excited. You make it real. Every roof you finish, every battery you commission, every inverter you start up is one more family that took control of their rising energy bills and got backup power for the next storm. We install solar, energy storage, roofing, HVAC and home improvement for homeowners across the country, and we're growing fast in 20+ states. That growth means we need skilled, dependable hands who take pride in clean wire runs, square racking and systems that pass inspection the first time. If you like working with your hands, learning real trade skills, and seeing the finished result at the end of the day, this is a career built for you. We pay at the top of the industry, we train you on the gear, and we promote from within. No degree required. Just show up, work safe, and want to get better.
Solar panel mounting & racking
Lay out, mount and secure racking and solar modules on residential roofs, making sure every rail is square, every penetration is sealed and flashed properly, and every panel is torqued to spec for a 25-year install.
Electrical & wiring
Run conduit, pull and terminate DC and AC wiring, land connections in combiners and disconnects, and follow the plan set and NEC codes so the system is clean, safe and inspection-ready.
Inverter & system setup
Mount and wire string or microinverters, configure equipment, and integrate the array with the home's electrical panel so power flows the moment the utility gives the green light.
Battery & energy storage installation
Install and connect home battery systems, set up backup loads, and wire storage so homeowners keep their lights on when the grid goes down during storms across the country.
Commissioning & startup
Power up the system, verify production, run monitoring setup, confirm the battery is charging and discharging correctly, and document the install so it's ready for inspection and PTO.
Safety & jobsite standards
Set up fall protection, lockout/tagout and ladders correctly, keep the site clean, protect the customer's home, and never cut a corner that puts you, the crew or the homeowner at risk.
Quality & customer experience
Treat every home like it's your own, leave the property cleaner than you found it, and walk the homeowner through their new system with the professionalism of a Licensed & Insured, 4.9-star company.
What your day looks like.
Morning: meet the crew, review the plan set and that day's installs, load the truck, and confirm permits, materials and safety gear before you roll out.
On the roof: set racking, mount panels, run conduit and pull wire, working as a team to keep every line clean and every rail square.
Midday: tie the array into the inverter and electrical panel, set up the battery and backup loads, and double-check terminations against the plans.
Afternoon: commission the system, verify production and battery charge, configure monitoring, and document everything for inspection.
Wrap-up: clean the site, walk the homeowner through their new system, load out, and head home knowing one more family is energy-independent.

Room to grow.
Most of our installers start as a Solar & Storage Installer with paid, hands-on training. As you master racking, electrical, inverters and battery commissioning, you move up to Lead Installer, then Crew Lead running your own team. From there the path opens to Field Supervisor, Site Manager, Quality & Inspections, or Master Electrician and licensing tracks. As The Light Group USA grows across the country, we need proven field leaders, and we build them from our own crews. The skills you learn here, including solar, storage and electrical, are some of the most in-demand trades in America, and they only get more valuable. Your effort and reliability set your ceiling, not a degree.
Good to know.
No. We provide paid training and bring on people with no solar background all the time. Any trades experience, including electrical, construction, roofing or HVAC, is a plus, but what matters most is that you're reliable, safety-minded and ready to learn.
We're hiring nationwide. The Light Group USA installs for homeowners across the country in 20+ states, so we have crews and openings in many areas. Apply and we'll match you to opportunities in your area.
We pay at the top of the industry for installers, with overtime available, plus benefits and paid training. It's full-time, stable work with a fast-growing company, not seasonal jobs that vanish in the off-season.
Yes. Solar installation is hands-on roof and electrical work. You'll climb ladders, work at heights, lift equipment and work outdoors in changing weather. We train you to do it safely with the right gear and procedures.
We promote from within. Installers grow into Lead Installer, Crew Lead, Field Supervisor and beyond, plus electrical licensing tracks. Your reliability and skill drive how fast you advance, not how long you've been here.
